Don’t Give Away or Sell Your Inheritance

(They want it and can get it, if you don’t obey)

From Micah 2:1 …They rob a man and his house, A man and his inheritance.

Micah 2:1-2

1 WOE to those who scheme iniquity,

Who work out evil on their beds!

When morning comes, they do it,

For it is in the power of their hands. (God is letting them, for your punishment)

2 They covet fields and then seize them,

And houses, and take them away.

They rob a man and his house,

A man and his inheritance.

There are people who want to take from you what the Lord wants to give you. You say, “Yes, I know they are robbers and thieves.” Yes, that is right but they also may lie in your bosom.

Micah 7:4-6

4 The best of them is like a briar,

The most upright like a thorn hedge.

The day when you post a watchman, (when you trust in security coming from a source other than the Lord)

Your punishment will come.

Then their confusion will occur.

5 Do not trust in a neighbor;

Do not have confidence in a friend.

From her who lies in your bosom

Guard your lips.

6 For son treats father contemptuously,

Daughter rises up against her mother,

Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;

A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.

I am not trying to scare you but I do want you to be aware that not everyone is for you, as they might like you to believe. But, the Lord is for you, so take courage. Joshua 23:10 One of your men puts to flight a thousand, for the Lord your God is bHe who fights for you, just as He 1promised you.

Your inheritance is anything the Lord would like you to have as a result of His dying on the cross (for someone to obtain an inheritance there must be a death). Therefore, only believers have an inheritance of the Lord. Any gift, blessing… anything you receive from the Lord is your inheritance: Joshua 14:9 “So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land on which your foot has trodden shall be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God fully.’

Unrepentant sin creates a separation between you and God.

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,

And your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear.

Obviously, this is you passing up your inheritance for those moments (to what extent depends on grace). In like manner it is our sin that causes us to give up parts of our inheritance. Others may deceive us and trick us into this situation by it is our sins that got us there. Hopefully, you will follow the Lord fully and keep all your Inheritance.

Isaiah 48:18-19

18 If only you had paid attention to my commands,

your peace would have been like a river,

your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

19 Your descendants would have been like the sand,

       your children like its numberless grains;

their name would never be cut off

       nor destroyed from before me."

The above verses show that your future depends on your decisions. Basically it says, if you would have obeyed from the start, by now you would have all kinds of blessings that you don’t currently have.

So, because of disobedience there is a different outcome than was possible. If you walk by the Spirit you will receive all your inheritance (because that would be following the Lord fully).

Ecclesiastes 6:1-2 1 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun and it is prevalent among men— 2 a man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor so that his soul lacks nothing of all that he desires, but God has not empowered him to eat from them, for a foreigner enjoys them. This is vanity and a severe affliction.

Here we have an inheritance (a man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor so that his soul lacks nothing of all that he desires) but it cannot be accessed by him because a foreigner enjoys it (an unbeliever). A foreigner enjoys it because of his (the believer’s) sin. A foreigner enjoys it because he, the believer, did not come out from among them. This is an unequally yoked situation.

Your inheritance is also motivation for the unbeliever’s evil. They want to be theirs, what God has for you. (1 Kings 21:3 But Naboth said to Ahab, “The Lord forbid me that I should give you the inheritance of my fathers. 1 Kings 21:15 … Jezebel said to Ahab, “Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth, the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead.”) This was after her well-conceived plot (Psalm 64:6)

Mark 12:7 “But those vine-growers said to one another, ‘This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours!’

Romans 8:16-17  16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.

Ephesians 3:6 to be specific, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel,

The above and below underlines are mine

(In regards to the foreigner in Ecclesiastes 6:1-2) 1 Corinthians 7:15 Yet if the unbelieving one leaves, let him leave; the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us to peace. 16 For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife?

This is how you get out of a marriage to an unbeliever, according to the Word. They leave you, and the trick, called a marriage will be undone (God does not join believers and unbelievers in actual marriage: to the rest I say: 1 Corinthians 7:12, where in 1 Corinthians 7:10 Paul speaks to the married) (not under bondage… called to peace). I believe Paul uses the term husband and wife for unbelievers that are called married for lack of a better term. That’s why he calls them the rest because he knows they are not the married, who he addressed in verse 10-11.) Read all this in context. As long as one is not a believer there is no real marriage.

The foreigner who was enjoying your blessings will no longer… them enjoying your blessings is a curse unto you (Deut 28): the severe affliction from Ecclesiastes 6:2.

Isaiah 62:8 The Lord has sworn by His right hand and by His strong arm, “I will never again give your grain as food for your enemies; Nor will foreigners drink your new wine, for which you have labored.”

We see that the Lord gave our inheritance to others as punishment for our iniquity. This is the severe affliction of Ecclesiastes 6:1-2.

This is God blessing, after repentance from sin, where what was meant for the believer will again begin to come to the believer instead of going to the foreigner (you gave it away because you sinned it away. God let foreigners have what He wanted to give you. After you repent He will again give to you what is yours: your inheritance).

From Lamentations 4:22 The punishment of your iniquity has been completed, O daughter of Zion; He will exile you no longer… We see, if we repent, that there will come a day when the punishment God renders to us will be completed.

You may say I thought Jesus bore all my punishment. Jesus bore all your eternal punishment, not the punishment God needs to render to you on earth as discipline.

Hebrews 12:7-8  7 It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

Just walk by the Spirit and don’t worry about these things. But you need to know.  A lack of knowledge is a very bad thing. From Isaiah 5:13 …Therefore My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge;…

1 Chronicles 28:20 Then David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.

I will end with one of my very favorite verses (as encouragement), from 2 Samuel 8:14 …And the Lord helped David wherever he went.

If you’re not saved, Come to Jesus!

Underlines in some of the above scripture are mine

Hebrews_12:2_ fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him (King James).
