Hebrews_12:2_ fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Repent means to return to the High Place  (underlines are mine)

 “...Satan would not have bothered leading people to sacrifice on high places to other god’s if it was not a counterfeit of something holy.”

I heard an old-time Gospel preacher here in Memphis, TN preach that repent means to return to the high place. That pent (like pent from the word penthouse) means high place and when we repent that is where we turn. We turn to the high place. Now, all through the Bible the devil motivated people to build their own high places where they sacrificed to other gods:

1 Kings 14:23 “For they also built for themselves high places and sacred pillars and Asherim on every high hill and beneath every luxuriant tree.” These are the ones man made that were bad.

Now that kind of high place is where anyone worships a false god. If someone give his life and his soul for his job, his place of work has become his high place, in a bad way. The counterfeit one. That is not the high place of God where we are to turn.

In Deuteronomy 32:9-14, in verse 13, we see that there is a high place where God want us to be.

      9"For the LORD'S portion is His people;

         Jacob is the allotment of His inheritance.

    10"He found him in a desert land,

         And in the howling waste of a wilderness;

         He encircled him, He cared for him,

         He guarded him as the pupil of His eye.

    11"Like an eagle that stirs up its nest,

         That hovers over its young,

         He spread His wings and caught them,

         He carried them on His pinions.

    12"The LORD alone guided him,

         And there was no foreign god with him.

    13"He made him ride on the high places of the earth,

         And he ate the produce of the field;

         And He made him suck honey from the rock,

         And oil from the flinty rock,

    14Curds of cows, and milk of the flock,

         With fat of lambs,

         And rams, the breed of Bashan, and goats,

         With the finest of the wheat--

         And of the blood of grapes you drank wine.

Satan would not have bothered leading people to sacrifice on high places to other god’s (there is only one God) if it was not a counterfeit of something holy.

2 Chronicles 1:3 Here is a high place Moses made for the Lord, where God’s tent of meeting was.

Then Solomon and all the assembly with him went to the high place which was at Gibeon, for God's tent of meeting was there, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.

Isaiah 57:15 Here we see God’s high place where we are to repent with our heart mind and soul.

     15For thus says the high and exalted One

         Who lives forever, whose name is Holy,

         "I dwell on a high and holy place,

         And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit

         In order to revive the spirit of the lowly

         And to revive the heart of the contrite.

2 Samuel 22:33-35

    33"God is my strong fortress;

         And He sets the blameless in His way.

    34"He makes my feet like hinds' feet,

         And sets me on my high places.

    35"He trains my hands for battle,

         So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

God has a high place where He dwells. God has made high places for us to walk on earth and yes, Satan has blinded the minds of people to not even see these but to see only his high places. But, that does not mean that Satan’s high places are the only ones that exist or that repent does not mean to return to the high place just because Satan has high places. Satan having high places does not invalidate God’s high place. Obviously, repent means to turn to God’s high and holy place.

For us the high and holy place of God, is Jesus: Philippians 2:9-11 He is our meeting place too. It’s only through Him that we can meet God.

9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

in Christ,

If you’re not saved, come to Jesus!

Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him (King James).
