Satan hates altar calls
Mark 10:46-49 49 And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him here.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take courage, arise! He is calling for you.”
Therefore, Altar Calls are Biblical. Jesus told us we are to call people to Him.
One thing about witnessing, you learn what Satan hates (as in get behind me Satan). I have heard from two people, over the last couple years, about how they do not believe in altar calls. The one a few minutes ago, from the writing of this page, said it places salvation in man’s hand and not in Christ’s. Now, his statement that salvation is only in Christ, is correct. Acts 4:12 "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved." and that it’s not of us Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. But, his argument that altar calls are not scriptural is in error.
Romans 10:9-10 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation (underline is mine). Read this page about confessing Jesus as Lord
Mark 1:15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel." I placed this scripture hear since I am taking about salvation, because repentance is necessary for salvation.
When a Preacher preaches a sermon he is an instrument of God and I am sure he would hope to be nothing other than that. When the word of God is preached, it is the Holy Spirit that convicts us of our sin (John 16:5-15). This is where, in your heart, you are obedient to the Holy Spirit and repent and believe. Then, after the sermon is over an invitation or an altar call is given. This is where you are given an opportunity to confess with your mouth to someone that Jesus is Lord. The Minister would be derelict in his duties, as a minister of God, if he did not give people an opportunity to confess Jesus before men. The Holy Spirit is the One telling you to go down and publicly confess Jesus after an altar call is given. If it was not something to be done the Holy Spirit would not be telling people to do it. That would say the Holy Spirit has been wrong in millions and millions of people’s lives, and that’s totally incorrect.
Matthew 10:32-33 32 "Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. 33 "But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven. Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Why would Satan hate altar calls? He hates when people are saved. He hates when people are obedient to the Holy Spirit and confess Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Now, you can also come to Jesus just in your heart. An altar call given by man is like another fish hook to catch men. Some may believe they must go down and then they should so an altar call should ALWAYS BE OFFERED. Other people may receive Jesus as their Lord in their heart and not even be near a church or even another person. Maybe they came to the Lord by reading the Bible alone at night. There is no altar call by man there but there is one by the Holy Spirit and that is the only one anyhow. When a preacher gives an altar call it is the Holy Spirit people are responding to through the vessel of that preacher. If someone is responding to the preacher alone he is still lost. It is Jesus that saves, not men, not preachers; not altar calls.
If you’re not saved, Come to Jesus! |

Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
