Obedience is Freedom
I was walking my dog the other day, and watching him it occurred to me that it is his obedience that allows him the freedom I allow him to have. I do not use a leash on him because he has learned to trust me and I him. This trust he has in me allows me to let him be free to roam and run as he pleases because he has learned where he is to go and is not to go. He does not venture into the street or cross it without permission. When it’s time to cross the street he will wait for me to say “okay, go.” Then he runs across the street quickly to the other side, because the street is no place for my dog. I keep a watchful eye on him, just incase he forgets and I remind him of his boundaries if he does forget. I know it is not him trying to be disobedient, sometimes he just forgets. I also watch out for other dogs that might entice him to cross the street or to come to him to attack him. When what I would call, an evil dog, begins to come toward him, I stare right into that dogs eyes and I sternly say, “get back. Go away” That dog knows that I am boss and very serious, and that I will protect my dog even if it means the death of the evil dog, if came down to that. He knows I do not at all fear him. Not once has one ever failed to leave.
In your life, the Master is God. You are the dog (don’t take it personally). Read what I wrote again slowly and think about each line in that context.
Exodus 23:22 "But if you truly obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
Psalm 119:45 I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts (NIV)

Galatians 5:13 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
1 Peter 2:16 Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.
Jeremiah 26:13 "Now therefore amend your ways and your deeds and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will change His mind about the misfortune which He has pronounced against you.
John 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
Acts 5:32 "And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him."
Galatians 5:7 You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth?

Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
