Hebrews_12:2_ fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. |

Sometimes when I open the Bible
About opening the Bible and letting God speak:
God does do this for a fact but not all the time. It’s like this. Sometimes He straight out talks to you about what you are thinking or of your concern. Sometimes He tells you something you will need later (like the next day sometimes) and sometimes He tests you. It’s like He is saying, “I have told you many times about this now I will say something different to test you.” If you (a believer) run into something that is of a condemning nature you can be sure that’s not God speaking to you. It’s like this, “but the LORD was not in the wind (1 Kings 19:11-12).” Sometimes when you open the Bible and maybe most times for some people the Lord is simply not speaking to you then.
He also rebukes you this way and it will fit perfectly with your situation. The Lord has rebuked me when I wondered about a decision and I opened His Word and sometimes it has been quite strong. He was saying, “Rob, you’re sining and you don’t even know it and now here is the road you are on and here are the results if you stay on that road.” When this happened, I repented and He showed me that everything was then okay and let me know that I was back on track. Remember what He shows you is what will happen if you do not repent. God changes His mind and He forgives us when we repent and the bad road that could have been is removed. This is all Biblical so I am not adding to the word, if anyone were to think that I was.
Lastly, sometimes God just does not answer that day. If you seek Him keeping the above in mind it will be safe. Now you must do this in faith and correctly apply scripture knowing the Bible is a book. You must, as always, rightly divide the word and correctly apply it. If you cannot do this and truly know when God is and is not speaking to you then you should not do this (open the Bible for Him to speak to you from a verse).
He also speaks to you as you read through your Bible. I’d say if you have not heard Him speak to you in this way then you should not ever open the Bible for Him to speak to you from that page or a verse on that page. Here is why. You need to know His voice from behind the words. If you are not close enough to Him by always wanting and needing to hear from Him so that you are already reading the Bible and if you are not hearing Him speak to you from His Word, then you should do that and get to know what He sounds like from behind His Words, first. This way you will know when He is speaking from scripture you just opened the Bible to because you will know His voice. That is paramount.
If you seek Him in this way He will let you find Him. If you don’t believe He will then like Jesus could not do many miracles because of the peoples lack of faith then it will be the same for you with God speaking to you this way. There is also grace, His will and timing. All these determine when and what God will say through His word to you personally.
I cannot tell you there is not an Internet when I know there is. If you only use phones then that’s fine but know that there is also an Internet and just because it may take some practice to use it does not mean it’s not there and available for you to use. So, if you believe and expect His Word and need it more than life, you will hear from Him.

Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
