Hebrews_12:2_ fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

You say you want new life

You say you want new life is a verse from the Beauty of Grace, by Krystal Meyers. It reminds me of… well first let me say, I woke up with that song on my mind and then when I got to that verse, after I listened to it (and I’ve had this thought before) it reminded me of it a It’s a Wonderful Life, with Jimmy Stewart.

Clarence as I am sure you remember was George’s guardian angel. Angels assist us but we don’t pray to them or call on them for help. We call on God and He may send an angel (as soon as I wrote that I got a phone call, I will keep you posted) but we don’t call on angels for help… and George doesn’t here. He calls on the Lord.

GEORGE: Oh, God... God... Dear Father in Heaven, I - I - I'm not a praying man, but if - if you're up there and - and you can hear me, please, show me the way. I'm at the end of my rope. Show me the way, God. (he could have already been saved but this is probably where he is saved)

And God did show him the way and he taught him some valuable lessons.

Then later, after he had learned what he needed to learn he could have life again...

GEORGE: Help me, Clarence. Get me back. I don't care what happens to me. Only get me back to my wife and kids, please. I want to live again!

CLARENCE: Oh, thank you, George. Thank you, Lord!

GEORGE: I want to live again, please. Oh, God, please, let me live again! (here, when he calls on the Lord, it’s for deliverance, as he is already saved)

You can’t tell this from this script but it the movie when George is saying, “Help me, Clarence” nothing changes and it’s still snowing because he is in the same dimension, where he was never born. But the second he says, “Oh, God, please, let me live again!” calling on God for deliverance, not Clarence, the snow stops (Matthew 14:32) and he is back and living again. You see, it’s only God that gives second chances.

In the movie Clarence also says, “You've been given a great gift, George: A chance to see what the world would be like without you.”

We may not get to see what the world would be like without us but we can have a second chance by calling on the Lord. George got his second chance and so can you. At the end he gets to be with his great love and his family.

MARY: George, where have you been?

GEORGE: Mary!

MARY: Oh, George!

GEORGE: Mary! Just let me touch you! Oh, you're real, Mary! Oh, you've no idea what happened to me.

MARY: You've no idea what's happened either…

George: I'm alive again, Mary! (quietly) Oh, listen, Mary, I'm alive again.

You say you want new life? It’s only in Jesus.  Romans 10:13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."

in Christ,

If you’re not saved, Come to Jesus!

Tell me what is love? (John 3:16, 1 John 4:10)*

I’ll never hold you to

The things you may have done

You say you want new life

In My arms there’s mercy

Anywhere you are

Is never too far away

There’s freedom from your scars

The mistakes that you’ve made

Forgiven

The memories erased (Psalm 103:12)*

Baby, that’s the beauty of grace (see whole song)

* I don’t know what scriptures God brought to Krystal’s mind when she wrote this but I have placed just a couple.

Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him (King James).
